For settling in and saying goodbye, we take the necessary time. This way, not only the individual child, but also the group can be prepared. This gives the children clarity and thus a sense of security. We also stimulate the group process by getting the children involved with each other. It is important for the wellbeing and development of the child and the group to get used to the new situation well and quickly.
When a new child arrives, prior to the official placement date, it is always allowed to settle in twice a day. Of course, we take into account the BKR (professional staff-child ratio) and the maximum group size. The settling-in dates are agreed in consultation and confirmed in writing.
If a child needs more time to settle in, new arrangements will be made in consultation with the parent(s).
It is best for the settling-in period to take place within a maximum of 2 weeks. If there is a longer time between settling-in sessions, the effect of settling-in is lost.
For new children in the baby groups and after-school care, an evaluation meeting is held between the mentor and the parent(s) of the newly placed child after a period of 2 months. This conversation is intended to evaluate how the parent(s) have experienced the settling in process. Evaluation interviews for children newly placed in a toddler group take place on the basis of the annual (twice a year) KIJK! parent interviews.
