Good to know more about:
The reporting code for domestic violence and child abuse
No one ever hopes to have to deal with this, of course. But it is good to be informed about the steps professionals take when abuse is suspected. This is because it is compulsory for professionals such as schools and childcare centres to report to Safe Home if there are suspicions of acute or structural unsafety of a child.
The reporting code works on the basis of a five-step plan that every organisation in the sector must include at least in their protocol. These steps are followed as soon as there is a suspicion of domestic violence or child abuse. This includes not only suspicions of physical violence, but also suspicions of psychological or sexual violence and suspicions of neglect.
